Richie grew up in the Bronx where, as a kid, he worked in a pool hall. On most days, the neighborhood wiseguys would come in and throw some dice while Richie looked on. Many pool players of that day still say that Richie was one of the best in the world. Richie's pool career peaked in 1974 when he won the World Championship of 9 Ball!
